LARGE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE - In Tangle (2005) Program note
"In Tangle" is a short fanfare for brass ensemble and two percussion, commissioned by the Tanglewood Music Center. This short work is dedicated to Ellen Highstein, director of the TMC and a long-time friend and colleague. The fanfare begins with a short musical motive which slowly breaks outward, culminating in a syncopated interplay of polytonal chords and rhythmic canon.
